How do I accept contactless payments using Tap to Pay on Android with the Givebacks POS app?

With the Givebacks POS app, you can accept all types of in‑person, contactless payments right from your Android device—no extra readers or hardware needed. It’s easy, secure, and private. You can accept contactless credit and debit cards, as well as other digital wallets.

Before you start

  1. Make sure you’re running the latest version of Android and have the Givebacks POS app installed.

  2. Open the Givebacks POS app and sign in to Givebacks using your existing Givebacks login credentials.

  3. Select the organization you want to connect to. If you are part of multiple organizations, you will want to select the correct organization.

  4. Enable Tap to Pay for your account by going to More, then Set up POS. Note: To enable Tap to Pay functionality, you must also go to your Givebacks site, navigate to Mobile POS > POS Settings, and enable the Tap to Pay option in Payment Settings.

  5. Browse your store items to ensure your store is set up as you want. You may create products and adjust visibility in your Givebacks site under Store > Products.

  6. If you see a request to review Terms and Conditions, follow the on‑screen steps.


Add Items to the Cart

  1. Open the Givebacks POS app on your mobile device.

  2. Add items to the cart or enter an amount under Quick Payment.

  3. Select the Cart button.

  4. Review the items in the cart and click Checkout.


Take a payment with a contactless card (Visa, Mastercard, etc.)

  1. Choose Tap to Pay.

  2. Present your device to the customer.

  3. Your customer holds their card horizontally at the top of your device, over the

    contactless symbol, for a few seconds.

  4. When you see the Done checkmark, the card read is complete and the transaction is being processed.

Tip: If the read doesn’t start, ask the customer to remove the card from a thick wallet/case and try again, holding it flat near the top edge of your device (where the contactless symbol appears).


Take a payment with digital wallets

  1. Choose Tap to Pay.

  2. Present your device to the customer.

  3. Your customer holds their device at the top of your phone, over the contactless symbol for a few seconds.

  4. When you see the Done checkmark, the card read is complete and the transaction is being processed.


Receipts and next steps

After the payment is processed, you’ll see a confirmation in Givebacks POS. You can email or text a digital receipt to the customer from the confirmation screen.
