General Offer Questions

What’s the difference between online and dining cashback?

For Online shopping, install the Givebacks browser extension, and a pop-up will appear when you shop at participating merchants online. Click “Activate Offer” from the extension. You’ll see a percentage in the pop—that’s the percentage of your purchase that the merchant gives back in Rewards.

To earn Rewards when you dine out, link an eligible credit or debit card in the app. When you dine at participating restaurants, Rewards are added to your account automatically.

Online Rewards

How can I tell if I’m earning cashback while I’m shopping online?

Once you have the Givebacks Chrome extension, visit a merchant site where you’d like to shop. Givebacks will automatically remind you when offers are available. You can also check by clicking the Givebacks icon on your Chrome extension list. Once you are prompted about an offer, click the button to activate the offer for that site. You will get a confirmation pop-up that your cashback is activated on that site.

How much money will I earn from Online Rewards?

When you make a qualifying purchase through Givebacks Rewards, you will receive up to 10% of your purchase, depending on the cashback percentage the participating merchant offers. With more than 40,000 merchants participating, including some of the biggest names in retail, your cashback can add up.

Dining Cashback

How do I link my credit card to earn with dining offers?

Linking your card is fast and easy. In the Givebacks app, go to Account and click the Add Card link.

Do I have to claim offers to get cashback?

No. Once you have linked your credit card, you don’t have to remember coupons or bring vouchers. You’ll automatically get cashback when you make a qualifying dining purchase with your linked credit card.

When will cashback be added to my account?

Dining cashback can take up to seven business days to be added to your account. If you do not see your cashback within seven business days of your purchase, please contact Givebacks Support.

Can I earn dining cashback when using a mobile payment method, such as Apple Pay, Android Pay, or Samsung Pay?

We strongly recommend using only physical credit cards for dining cashback purchases because we do not consistently receive mobile wallet transaction details from American Express, Mastercard, or Visa. Without that transaction information, we can’t award your cashback.

General Cashback Questions

Do I need to upload a receipt to earn cashback?

No. Just dine with your linked card at participating restaurants or activate offers for online shopping. It’s a good idea to keep your receipt in case you don't receive your cashback as expected. Your receipt is a valuable tool for our Givebacks customer support team to research a missing transaction.

How long will it be until I get my money?

Typically, cashback will be deposited into your wallet within about 60 days. The time period depends on the type of purchase and specific timeframes for each participating merchant. You can see the status of your pending cashback in your account.

Where can I find the cashback I’ve earned and the cashback donated on my behalf?

Log in to your account using the Givebacks app to see your cashback balance and the amounts donated to your selected organizations. The cashback won’t immediately appear when you make a purchase because each merchant must notify us that you placed an order, which can take a few hours to several days. Once we get the notification from each merchant, we’ll add your pending cashback amount to your account and notify you.

How do I transfer my cashback?

Cashback designated for a school or non-profit will be transferred automatically. Cashback designated for you can be transferred to yourself once the amount reaches $25. You can transfer the funds via Venmo ($0.25 transaction fee), PayPal ($0.25 transaction fee), or your bank account ($0.95 transaction fee).

Is the cashback donated to my cause on my behalf tax-deductible?

The money that Givebacks Rewards donates to your chosen organization is not tax-deductible on your return. However, any donations that you make to an organization are tax-deductible.

How does my cause get its money if I donate?

Organizations registered with Givebacks Rewards will receive their cashback in their Rewards wallet, just like you do. If your organization is not registered with Givebacks yet, we’ll contact the organization to ask them to register with Givebacks Rewards to receive donations. The organization has eight calendar quarters to register with Givebacks Rewards. During that time, we will track their donations.

If your cause doesn’t register by the end of that period or becomes ineligible, we’ll email you and ask you to select a new organization within 30 days. When you pick a new organization within the 30-day period, we’ll apply the donations from your previous Rewards purchases to your new cause. If you don’t select a new organization within 30 days, we’ll apply the donations to other organizations.

Can I remove my credit card from my Givebacks Account after my purchase?

Cashback will not be posted to your account if your credit card is not linked to your Givebacks Account. If you wish to remove your credit card, you must wait until after the cashback has been posted to your account.

How can I delete my card from Givebacks?

You can remove any credit and/or debit cards associated with Rewards through the Givebacks app or at givebacks.com/home. Navigate to Account, click on the credit card you want to remove, then click Remove Card.

Can I use a credit card issued outside of the United States to earn cashback?

No. Only cards issued in the United States and Canada are eligible to earn cashback.

What type of credit cards can I use?

Dining cashback works with most American Express, Mastercard, and Visa credit cards. Exceptions include Macy’s American Express cards, corporate and purchasing cards, Health Savings Account cards, Flexible Spending Account cards, government-administered prepaid cards (including EBT cards), insurance prepaid cards, and Visa Buxx. Diners Club and Discover cards are not eligible for in-store cashback at this time.

Can I use my store credit card for cashback?

Rewards cashback is awarded when American Express, Mastercard, and Visa report your linked purchase to us. Unfortunately, most store cards, even with a major credit card logo, are processed through the store’s bank, not the major credit card networks, preventing us from awarding cashback on these transactions.

Can I use my debit card to earn cashback?

We recommend using an eligible American Express, Mastercard, or Visa credit card for dining cashback. Do not enter your PIN at checkout if you use your debit card. Instead, select “credit” instead of “debit” when your card is swiped or inserted, which means you will sign a receipt instead of entering your PIN at the point of sale. If you use your PIN for debit, Givebacks Rewards will not get your transaction information, and you will not be eligible for cashback.

How many cards can I enroll for dining cashback?

You may enroll as many credit cards as you like. The number of eligible American Express, Mastercard, or Visa cards you can add to your Rewards account to earn dining cashback is unlimited.

How do I know my credit card information is secure?

Givebacks takes your privacy and security seriously. Your credit card data is securely stored in an encrypted environment. For more information on how Givebacks handles your private information, please see Givebacks' Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.

Does Givebacks store my credit card information?

No - Givebacks does not receive or store your bank account, payment card, or online payment service credentials on any systems that we operate. Givebacks uses a process called Tokenization. The primary difference—and benefit—between tokenization and encryption is that tokenized data cannot be returned to its original form. Unlike encryption, tokenization does not use keys to alter the original data. Instead, it entirely removes the data from an organization's internal systems and replaces it with a randomly generated, nonsensitive placeholder (a token). These placeholders can be stored within an organization's internal systems for business use, while sensitive values are safely stored outside of its environment.

So, if a tokenized environment is breached, no sensitive data or compromising keys/credentials would be revealed—only the non-sensitive tokens. Because no sensitive data is being stored, none can be stolen. In effect, the risk of data theft is virtually eliminated.
